Last year was our first year with Turf’s Up Lawn Service. We highly recommend their lawn treatment services. Every year our HOA has sent us a letter saying that we need to take care of our lawn. Thanks to Turfs Up we did not receive a letter last year!

Update Again! Turf's Up is really dedicated to keeping their customers happy! This spring (2025) I had a slight complaint about weeds and a few dead spots and asked Turf's Up to take a look. Dan, one of the owners, came out and walked the whole yard with me (3+ acres), identifying weeds and observing dead spots. Dan then proposed a complimentary additional weed treatment. Not only did Turf's Up do the weed treatment, they followed up with a complimentary aeration and re-seeding in areas of the lawn that needed it. I am very impressed with the extra effort Turf's Up has done to help me have a great lawn. Update: For 2024 I've asked Turf's Up to expand treatment to the whole yard. I saw good results, compared to a neighbor, and decided to go all in. I selected Turf's Up because I saw them working a neighbor's yard that I had admired. I purchased their 8-treatment plan for 2022 plus aeration and seeding in the fall. Because of the large size of our yard, I had them treat about 2/3 of it. The areas they treated and seeded are noticeably improved over the area that was not treated, so I am well pleased with the results. Additionally, I have called them several times to ask questions about the treatments and to identify certain weeds (now gone) that were causing problems. Randy and Dan have always been quick to respond, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. I highly recommend Turf's Up. Oscar N. McNeil, Waterford, VA

Lawn Care Services in McNair, VA

Turf’s Up brings full-service lawn care to McNair homeowners through a year-round program  that anchors every treatment in its right season. Fertilization, weed and insect control, aeration,  lime, disease management, and outdoor pest programs are coordinated into one calendar aligned plan. Turf’s Up provides expert lawn insect control services to homeowners across  McNair, VA, with late-spring grub prevention and curative summer treatments that protect HOA ready turf. Our complete year-round lawn care program also covers fertilization, weed, disease,  and pest control timed to every season. Protect your McNair turf from grubs. Call Turf’s Up at  (703) 740-9525 for a free estimate.

      Lawn Fertilization Service

McNair’s cool-season fescue and bluegrass need consistent feeding to keep color, density, and  stress tolerance through Northern Virginia’s seasonal swings. Our lawn fertilization service applies five to seven slow-release rounds across spring kickoff, late spring growth,  summer maintenance, fall recovery, and winter prep. Each application is matched to that  month’s growth cycle, so growth stays steady and root systems strengthen. Most McNair lawns  see real improvement within two to three rounds on the program.

      Aeration and Overseeding

Years of foot traffic, mowers, and clay subsoil compact McNair lawns over time. Late August  through September is the prime aeration window for cool-season McNair turf; missing it usually  means waiting another year for reliable results. Core aeration opens the soil; overseeding with  modern turf-type tall fescue brings stronger disease resistance and drought tolerance. Done  together each fall, the result is a thicker, more uniform lawn the following spring.

      Lime Treatment

Acidic soil is common across McNair neighborhoods, and even the best fertilizer underperforms  when pH is off. Our lime treatment uses pelletized product applied primarily in fall, when soil  chemistry is most receptive. Soil testing comes first so applications happen only when results  call for them. Most McNair lawns benefit from a maintenance application every two to three  years, kept on a schedule that matches what soil tests reveal.

      Weed Control

Crabgrass, dandelions, clover, and nutsedge are the usual suspects in McNair yards. Our weed  control program runs a late-winter pre-emergent application that stops crabgrass at germination, then targets escapees with post-emergent treatments through spring and summer. We adjust

products based on what’s pushing through your turf, so persistent weeds don’t get a foothold.  Pressure drops each year on the program.

      Lawn Insect Control

Sod webworms, billbugs, chinch bugs, and white grubs damage McNair lawns from beneath.  Our lawn insect control services run preventive grub applications in late spring, before damage  begins, with curative treatments through summer when scouting reveals active pressure. Late summer grub treatments are especially important across McNair, where damage can quickly  spread on irrigated lawns. Stopping the cycle early protects every other investment in your  fertilization and aeration.

      Lawn Disease Control

Brown patch and dollar spot show up reliably during McNair’s hot, humid June and July. Our  lawn disease control program applies preventive fungicides during high-risk summer windows  and curative treatments when symptoms appear. Combined with mowing-height guidance and  watering recommendations, fungal flare-ups become rare. Lawn disease treatment is most  effective started before disease takes hold, especially on irrigated McNair lawns that retain leaf  moisture overnight.

      Tree and Shrub Care

Mature trees and foundation shrubs across McNair need targeted nutrition lawn fertilizer can’t  deliver. Dormant oil in late winter knocks down overwintering insects before they activate. Tree  and shrub fertilization during the growing season uses deep-root injection so nutrients reach  absorbing roots. Tree and shrub insect control protects ornamentals from bagworms, scale, lace bugs, and aphids. These ornamental programs are especially valuable on cherries, hollies, and  dogwoods common in McNair landscapes.

      Perimeter Pest Control

Ants, spiders, stink bugs, and centipedes start showing up indoors with each weather change.  Our perimeter pest control services apply a barrier treatment around the foundation, garage  doors, and entry points of your McNair home, stopping pests before they get inside. Quarterly  applications keep the barrier active across all four seasons, and treatments are pet-safe once  dry. Many homeowners bundle the program with lawn care for full property coverage.

      Mosquito Control

Storm drains, retention ponds, and shaded yards make mosquitoes a real McNair nuisance from a spring launch through summer’s peak. Our mosquito control program launches in April and  treats foliage where adults rest plus the standing water where larvae develop. Mosquito  treatment for yard areas you actually use, including patios, play sets, and pool decks, brings  immediate relief. With recurring treatments, families enjoy outdoor evenings without constant  repellent.

      Flea, Tick, and Chigger Control

Wooded edges and tall grass attract ticks and chiggers across McNair neighborhoods,  especially near common-area trails. Our flea and tick control program treats yards with targeted  applications focused on the shady borders these pests prefer. Treatments continue throughout  the active months, and outdoor chigger control keeps pine-straw beds and edges clear. Pets  and kids can use the yard freely without the bites these pests leave behind.

      Your Questions, Our Answers

      Turf's Up! Team

What lawn care and pest control services are available to residents of the McNair, VA community?

How can professional lawn care help McNair, VA homeowners consistently meet HOA lawn standards?

Most McNair HOAs expect a clean, weed-free, well-fertilized lawn, and our calendar-aligned  program is built to meet that standard with minimal homeowner effort. Treatments are  scheduled across seasons so your yard always looks consistent, even during stressful summer  weeks.

What are the most common lawn challenges facing homeowners in the McNair, VA community?

Compacted soil, summer fungal disease, broadleaf and crabgrass weeds, and grub damage are the most frequent issues. A combined fertilization, aeration, weed control, and insect control  program handles all four when applied on the right schedule.

Is professional lawn aeration and overseeding recommended for the soil conditions in McNair, VA?

Yes. Annual September core aeration paired with overseeding using modern turf-type tall  fescue dramatically improves McNair lawns, especially properties with compacted soil. Most  homes show clear improvement the following spring after a complete program.

What mosquito, tick, and perimeter pest control options are available for McNair, VA properties?

Recurring mosquito treatments and tick-targeted perimeter applications run from the April  launch through summer; quarterly perimeter pest control runs year-round. Treatments focus on  the spaces families actually use plus the foundation barrier of your home.

How many rounds of professional fertilization and weed control does a lawn in McNair, VA need annually?

Most McNair lawns benefit from five to seven fertilization rounds plus two pre-emergent and four to six post-emergent weed control applications a year, built into our standard program.
